This garden is the first full-sized, authentic Chinese garden to be built outside of China.
It was built in 1985-1986 by Joe Wai, Donald Vaughan and Wang Zu-Xin with help from the Landscape Architecture Society of Suzhou, China.
It has its own exterior public park and paid-access garden, linked by an artificial pond.
The garden was built according to Feng Shui and Taoist principles to ensure harmony and balance between contrasts.
Multiple bodies of water, plant species, fish, turtles, bridges and rocks can be found in the park and garden.
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is a nationalist leader regarded by many as the founder of modern China. He also visited Vancouver 3 times.
This magnificent, typically Chinese garden inspires inner peace and calm.
