Here, the view of the eastern part of the Grand Canyon is excellent. The place is perfect to take pictures or to look at the sunrise. In addition to offering a wonderful panorama, Marico Point allows to see the ancient mine Orphan Lode, claimed in 1891 by the miner Dan Hogan. Operating copper first, Hogan changed for uranium ore in the 1950s. The mining operations stopped in 1967. The Grand Canyon National Park acquired the property in 1987 but only began major environmental restorations in 2008.
