Apparently the name was given to the neighbourhood in honour of the workers who came from the state of Michigan to work here. Research has not yet determined whether they were new immigrants or people who had returned to Magog after seeking their fortune abroad.
In 1977, the Hitchcock House was moved to enable construction of the current bridge.
