Saint-Laurent-de-l'Île-d'Orléans

A maritime vocation for nearly 400 years

Initially called Saint-Paul until 1698, then Saint-Laurent thereafter, Saint-Laurent-de-l'Île-d'Orléans has always had a maritime vocation.

It features a maritime park, a dock, and a yacht club that can accommodate nearly 150 vessels. The patron saint of the municipality is Lawrence of Rome.

From the shore, one can admire the immense ships as well as the small sailboats navigating the Saint Lawrence channel. The Appalachians also appear a little further away on the horizon.

The village features beautiful rows of traditional houses, some of which are classified as historical. The church dates back to 1860, accompanied by the presbytery, the convent, and a little further away, a procession chapel.

At the village's exit, at the foot of a small waterfall, an old mill dating from 1715 has been transformed into a restaurant. Nearby, the golf club offers a magnificent view of the river.

Saint-Laurent is an important agricultural hub: you can pick and buy locally produced fruits and vegetables there.
