Stanbridge East was founded in 1801 and incorporated in 1890.

Stanbridge East

The first residents were British settlers who had remained loyal to the Crown during the American Revolution and who arrived in 1797. These Loyalists cleared the land and developed an agricultural sector which is still prosperous today. The village is recognized for its Loyalist architecture and roots.
