Former St.Andrews Church

Former St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (1832-1836)

This is one of the oldest churches in the region. It was built in 1832 by William Moody under the direction of Reverend M. McLaurin of the church of Scotland, who was the preacher in Lochiel (Glengarry) and in L'Orignal.

When Reverend McLaurin died, the church had not yet been completed due to a lack of funds. The trustees of the church, the Honourable Alexander Grant, William Waits, Charles Platt Treadwell, John W. Marston and Peter Sterling, all largely contributed to its funding.
