This notable building was in former days the post office and customs house. It was built in 1879.
Today the Old Post Office building houses the Coaticook Library, the atelier of the local artist-in-residence and the Coaticook Historical Society.
What is the name of the library?
Bibliothèque Françoise-Maurice(The Françoise-Maurice Library)
The offices of the first newspaper in Coaticook were situated where now you find the library extension building. The address of the offices of the Coaticook Observer and the Etoile de l Est (Eastern Star) were at 31 Cutting Street. This street was the business and commercial hub of the town.
The Eastern Townships Bank building has been well preserved to this day. It’s the home of the CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce).
