Resilience (Phillip Adams)

Artwork presentation

Title : Resilience

"The inspiration behind my work "Resilience" is the people of Lennoxville and their will to survive, recover and persevere through the frequent flooding that occurs at the confluence of the St. Francis and Massawippi Rivers. The imagery depicts a scene located near Bishop University that frequently floods, while the lone figure walks towards the viewer with quiet resolve and determination. At the core of the work is a conversation about our relationship with nature. In an age that is volatile with unpredictable weather and warming climates, it is our resiliency and ingenuity that enables us to overcome and persevere through change and difficulty. It is this resiliency and ingenuity that also intertwines with the causing factors leading to climate change. We, as a people, are left with the choice as to which direction we walk."
