The construction of the United church in Arundel, of the Methodist faith, was begun in 1889 and completed two or three years later. The imposing steeple on the right of the building was added between 1938 and 1940. This is a typical example of a Protestant church. Here it is seen behind a school bus from the same period! It is one of the oldest religious buildings in the territory of the Laurentides RMC. Here we have a building highly representative of the neo-Gothic style, popular in Québec ecclesiastical buildings of the period, and inspired by the Gothic style in France of the Middle Ages (source: Bergeron-Gagnon Inc., heritage inventory of the Laurentides RMC, 2013).
