First hotel of Baie-Comeau

Built in 1936, the prestigious building was built at the request of Robert Rutherford McCormick, founder of the city. First hotel in Baie-Comeau, it met the requirements of the Colonel by providing a convenient place to stay for directors of the company and people from around the world a comfortable place to rest when there on business of for a visit. The first wedding of the City of Baie-Comeau was held on July 24th 1937.

Destroyed by fire in December 1965, the Manoir was rebuilt in the same emplacement. The new building featured the old Canadian style was the work of the architect M.G. Dunford, the facade was flanked by stone turrets and copper roofs. The inauguration took place August 22nd 1968.

Manoir Baie Comeau

Since the late 1990s, it no longer belongs to the Quebec North Shore Paper Company (QNSP). Purchased in 2004 by specialized entrepreneurs, hotel underwent a remodel. Today, the Manoir is better suited than ever to accommodate the modern tourist: a welcoming, calm and inspiring place with a breathtaking view on the river.
