Chapelle sur le lac

Pierrette Joly was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario in 1948. Mother of three and a grandmother three times over, this Sainte-Adèle resident has been tirelessly pursuing her art since the beginning of the 1980s in the picturesque setting of the Pays-d’en-Haut. Drawing her inspiration from nature, Pierrette Joly’s canvasses reflect the majestic beauty of the Pays-d’en-Haut and Charlevoix landscapes. An active artist-painter for over twenty years, Ms. Joly defines her style as figurative-impressionist. She feels that she is always teaching herself new things. For her, creation is a dynamic process that is constantly evolving.  

Visitors to Sainte-Adèle have a soft spot for this little church beside Lac Rond along the montée Chantecler. It was built in 1952 on land donated by Mr. A.B. Thompson, owner of the Chantecler, with the assistance of the United Churches of Canada. The first church service took place on December 14, 1952 before a congregation of very religious families. The first stone was placed by the Reverend J.I. Mackay. Furniture was crafted by local workers, members of the congregation and their friends. This little church, which serves all Protestant dominations, is home to a magnificent stained-glass window by Guido Nincheri. Its first residing minister was the Reverend Hugh A. Rose. Since 1970, three churches have joined together: Sainte-Adèle, Morin-Heights and Shawbridge.
