The Vanier Museopark is a must-see institution, a real “gold mine” for those interested in the history of Francophones and the Francophonie in Ontario. The main objective of this extraordinary museum is to promote the Franco-Ontarian identity.
This building was acquired in 1977 by the City of Vanier from the Society of Missionaries of Africa, the White Fathers.
In 2006, the Museopark inaugurated its first permanent exhibition entitled “Vanier-sur l'Outaouais, aujourd'hui pour demain.” From a Francophone perspective, this exhibition covers more than 400 years of history, from the time of the First Nations to today.
Located in a magnificent natural domain of 17.5 acres, in the heart of the city, also known as Richelieu Park, the Vanier Museopark houses a sugar shack and holds many community events.
