7th Street, gateway to the foundry

The dreariness of winter!

The first houses built for executives on 7th Street, winter 1926-1927. They look quite lonely in this field of snow and stumps! In the background, the Noranda buildings under construction.

The Imperial Bank of Canada's temporary building

1926 view of the log cabin housing the Imperial Bank of Canada. This is a far cry from the prestigious brick building it later housed, which can still be admired at the corner of Murdoch Avenue and 7th Street.

The commercial district

By 1933, 7th Street was already well developed and established in the heart of Noranda's commercial district.

A foundry, houses and shops!

7th Street, 1935.
