Noranda station, an important witness to development

Noranda's other train station

Destroyed by fire in 1989, this Canadian National station served Noranda and Rouyn, and was located a hundred or so metres south of the present RNC Media building. Pictured here in 1938, a delegation of Noranda Mines businessmen and executives left to meet with the Quebec government to discuss the town's needs.

The Rouyn train station

Located at the other end of town at the end of Perreault Street West and operated by the Ontario Northland Railway, this station was demolished in 1979, the same year it closed. See it here in 1928.
