City Hall and Rouyn's cosmopolitan character

An emblematic landmark

Located since its earliest days at the corner of Taschereau Street East and Portage Avenue, Rouyn's City Hall has undergone several modifications over the years. Shown here in the mid-1930s. At the time, the tower was used to dry firefighters' hoses and was a landmark for most citizens. In the background, you can see the town of Noranda and the Horne mine.

The Protestant school

Built in 1929, the school was located in front of City Hall, at the corner of Taschereau Street and Portage Avenue. Today, the site is used as a parking lot.
