Fort Fleur d'Épée

A historic battlefield

Fort Fleur d'Épée is a fortress built in the 18th century. It has been classified as a historical monument since 1979. It was the site of battles between the French and the English.

Located in the heights of Bas-du-Fort, it offers a splendid view of the turquoise waters of the Gosier Bay as well as Basse-Terre.

You can visit the underground galleries that connect the different parts of the fort. They sometimes host exhibitions.

It is open every day and admission is free. It's also worth taking a trip to the Fort to admire the view. Its green setting makes it a popular spot for walks. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
