The Bézart mill was built in 1840. It is the last remnant of a sugar plantation. This structure was entirely made from cut stones. The mill is equipped with three horizontal cast iron rollers, providing more efficient grinding. It is one of the few mills to feature such a modern structure and equipment from the late 19th century.
The mill had not been operational since 1920, but it was restored to its original state in 1994 thanks to the first training workshop established in Guadeloupe. The roof was designed to withstand strong winds.
The mill's sails are dismantled during the cyclone season to prevent any accidents. The Bézart mill was classified as a Historical Monument in 1983.
