Stanbridge East

One of the oldest in Montérégie.

Founded in 1801, the village of Stanbridge East is one of the oldest in Montérégie and quickly experienced prosperity. By 1830, it already had a newspaper, a post office, a school, a grain mill—now a museum—as well as a tannery, a foundry, a brick factory, and, of course, a church.

Stanbridge East

This small town has managed to preserve the traces of its rich heritage and highlight its charming Victorian-inspired houses, as well as the colorful farms in its fertile countryside, with views of the Vermont mountains.

The landscape is so beautiful that Canada Post even immortalized it on a stamp! The social and cultural life of this small village of fewer than 1,000 inhabitants has been active from the very beginning, according to the locals. Think of the most beautiful garden or equestrian competitions organized by the many horse owners.

Food lovers will also note that Stanbridge East hosts an annual Apple Pie Festival every fall and is part of the Wine Route.
