Sainte-Famille (Île d'Orléans)

The largest concentration of stone houses from the French regime.

Sainte-Famille is the oldest municipality on Île d'Orléans, and it is here that the largest concentration of stone houses from the French regime can be found, including the Drouin House, which is one of the few that was spared by General Wolfe's troops in 1759.

Sainte-Famille (Île d'Orléans)

Among the first settlers were the Baucher brothers: one of them, baptized on October 3, 1630, in the church of Montmorency in France, Guillaume Baucher (known as Montmorency), emigrated to New France where, on April 2, 1656, a plot of three arpents was granted to him here in Sainte-Famille. He passed away on October 26, 1687. His descendants took the name Morency.
