7th Street Shopping Complex

A remarkable layout

Following the creation of Noranda's first urban plan, developed around 1926, the commercial sector expanded. In accordance with Building Regulations No.2, buildings had to be constructed of brick and be fireproof. Retail businesses and service providers established themselves there.

The commercial complex across from 112, 7e Rue (street), exhibits a remarkable continuity that has stood the test of time. This quality is attributable to the harmony achieved through the alignment of the buildings and their nearly identical height. The textures and colors of the bricks blend well, and the facades share a similar layout in terms of openings, alignment, rhythm, and cornices.

The Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda

Directly across the street, the Canadian Corp. building (112,7e Rue), now home to the Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda, a vibrant theatre production venue, is a fine example of a building that has stood the test of time.
