"The Parlatory" by Samuelle Desjardins

Reinventing the Space for Dialogue

Le Parlatoire by Samuelle Desjardins offers an ephemeral public space inspired by the form of an agora, reimagined as a remnant of a contemporary monument. The installation addresses the fragility of our common spaces: these physical places where collective discourse once took shape, and which now seem to be crumbling in a climate marked by polarized discussions and the shift of exchanges towards the virtual.

About the Artist

A multidisciplinary artist and cultural strategy consultant, she develops a practice at the intersection of sound, space, and experience.

A musician and explorer of sound textures, she composes lo-fi atmospheres where strings, noises, and sensitive ambiances blend together.

Her approach also extends to the design of sets, staging, and in situ installations, where she explores the relationship between audiences and spaces.

With expertise in ideation, design, production, and logistics of cultural and public art projects, she supports initiatives that combine creativity, local engagement, and collective experience.

A Return to the Cultural Trail

The artist marks a return to the Cultural Trail after creating Les Parapluies in the Aubry alley in 2019. Their presence is also notable in downtown Gatineau with the Eddy Street mural (2020) and the installation La Maison d'Alzire (2021). This new work continues their dialogue with the territory and once again enriches the downtown artistic journey.
