A Long Story by Lauren Pirie

Lauren Pirie

For the Cultural Trail, Lauren A. Pirie presents a new iteration of A Long Story, an in-situ installation composed of flexible sculptural forms that intertwine with the existing structure of the fountain.

A contemplative space

The concept is based on the idea of an enveloping and protective embrace. Long, soft, organic forms intertwine around an existing fountain, symbolizing human connection, interdependence, and the deep desire for collective healing. Made from sustainable materials suited to the region's changing climate, the structure incorporates architectural elements to create an environment that is both intimate and welcoming for the community.

At Night

The visual experience of the work is enhanced by an integrated dynamic lighting system that evolves over time. As night falls, the sculpture emits soft glows, oscillating between warm and cool tones, altering the site's atmosphere and capturing visitors' attention. This luminous dimension gives the space a magical and immersive quality, making the installation particularly striking during nighttime walks along the path.

Beyond its aesthetic signature linked to queer ecology, this creation has been specifically designed to become a true contemplative space. By uniting public art and urban furniture, Lauren Pirie shapes a refuge area conducive to introspection, calm, and reconnection with the territory.
