Hermits Rest

Hermits Rest

Here is a quiet place with a view on the forest and the Canyon, mostly the West. This is the perfect place to relax and to observe a spectacular sunset. Hermits Rest owes its name to an establishment of Mary Colter located at the same place. Between 1910 and 1930, it was the starting point of a trail and an old campground of Fred Harvey. It's now the trailhead of Rim Trail. This trail climbs a hill to Trailview Overlook. This hill is one of the steepest sections of the Rim Trail, but the scenery along the way is worth the climb.
