Historic Botanical Gardens of Captain Robert Mouton, former Mayor of Lafayette.
Now a garden district neighborhood named Mouton Gardens.
This beautiful area of the historic azalea trail is a showcase of Southern Indica Formosa Lavender Azaleas; the official city flower named “The General Lafayette” in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette.
The spine of Lafayette's historic azalea trail. This floral splendor that runs from Oaklawn Garden district thru the University / Oil Center district and connects several garden districts in the urban core of the city.
Christened in the 1930's by the Lafayette Garden Club and the Chamber of Commerce, the Historic Azalea Trail is a 25 mile long trail of floral splendor.
Bloom season late February thru March, depending on weather patterns.
