O.T.J. and Sports

In 1945, the municipality realized that leisure had to be part of civic life. An outdoor rink was built between the church and the school... a true attraction center was born.
In 1955, the board granted a group of youth permission to create an association: l’œuvre des Terrains de jeux (playground association).
Sport has always played a significant role from one generation to the next.

One thing leading to another, friendly, but also competitive hockey teams were formed. Our teams' performances generated a passion for this sport.

A local newspaper was established to inform the population about how the teams of our municipality were performing.

The parish corporation of Saint-Odilon gave a shed located behind the church to O.T.J. to foster sports activities. In 1965, a grant was allocated by the municipality to restore the building.

Born in 1923, Simon Nolet discovered his passion and talent for hockey in our facilities. He was drafted by the National Hockey League and played with the Flyers. He won a Stanley Cup in 1974 with that team. He was selected at the NHL's expansion draft of 1974 by the Kansas City Scouts who elected him as captain. He was traded to the Penguins during the 1975-76 season, and only played 39 games with them before playing his last season in the NHL with the Rockies in 1976-77.
He is now a talent scout for the Philadelphia Flyers.
