Mance Pavilion

Mance Pavilion

On the building's parking lot, a small lookout offers a breathtaking view of the harbour, the historic district and the bay.

The building known today as the Mance Pavilion, first housed in 1939 a school reserved for the Anglo-Protestant community. The school was enlarged in 1948 and again in 1959, when the gymnasium was added. The classes were then moved to the McCormick School located near the Mance Pavilion.

Mance Pavilion

During the fire of the McCormick elementary School in 2003, only a mural, executed by the students, was saved from the flames. It is this colorful artwork that can be seen close to the Mance Pavilion.

Since then administered by the City of Baie-Comeau, the building housed the municipal library for several years. The auditorium, the former gymnasium, was also an entertainment venue.

Nowadays, the Mance Pavilion houses many cultural associations and punctual visual arts exhibitions in the Corrid'Art.
