Printing and cotton textile mill

Cotton printing plant and spinning mill

Factory Employees

From the dam, where electricity was first produced to serve the factory, to the call of the whistle, which blew several times a day to signal shift changes, this factory beat out the rhythm of Magog for over a hundred years.

Dominium textile

The purchase of the Magog factories by the Hochelaga Cotton Company and later the formation of the largest manufacturing company yet in Canada under the name Dominion Cotton Mills, which became Dominion Textile in 1905, also transformed the town and the life of its inhabitants.

The growth of the textile industry, associated with tax exemptions offered to the company by various municipal councils, was beneficial to the development of both the plant and the town.
