Joseph Hickman House, 5032 Main Street

The Joseph Hickman House is a large, two-story, white Neo-Classical home, embellished with arched veranda openings on the front façade and bay windows on the south façade. It is located on ‘Cemetery Hill’ on Main Street.

Joseph Hickman (1821-1889)

Joseph Hickman (1821-1889) was a general merchant, entrepreneur, timber merchant and owned shares in a number of ships.  He was Justice in the Sessions— a form of local government (circa 1872,) — and built an ‘experimental’ farm at 5032 Main Street.
