Widow Charron’s House

1818 du Village Street

eotraditional-style house

The house was built in 1914 by Adélard Charron (1891-1974), a labourer at the Bellefleur Mill. His widow and the Diocese of Mont-Laurier sold the house to Alban Auclair. In 1931, the Auclair family sold it to Alfred Gagnon, who sold it to the Lachance family.

In the old photo, the roof shows two alternating colours of shingles. When the roof was reshingled, workers discovered newspapers dating back to March 1914 that had been put under the shingles as insulation.

Jules Vadeboncoeur took over the property in 1976. His wife created a magnificent garden admired by all the community.
