Jacobins Portal

A Monumental Work

Built from 1355 to 1359, then rebuilt in its current state in 1779, Jacobins Portal is nowadays the last remnant of the four doors surrounding the Ville basse and allowing for the control of the entrances in the fortified Bastide of Carcassonne. On the right side of the door, you can see the remains of a rampart.
