Bielle Distillery

History

Starting in 1826, the sugar factory of Nicolas and Maximilien Bielle was located here, before it was sold to Espanet and Co. in 1857, and then merged with the rest of their property in 1868. The estate then covered 52 hectares. The sugar factory was converted into a distillery in 1910. Between 1882 and 1955, several owners succeeded one another. The estate and the distillery were sold to Paul Rameaux in 1955.

An old tradition perpetuated

The Bielle Distillery continues the old tradition of producing agricultural rum from pure cane juice. The establishment is managed by the Société d'Exploitation de la Distillerie Bielle (SEDB), whose current official representative is Dominique Thiéry, great-nephew of Paul Rameaux. The distillery produces approximately 120,000 liters of 59° rum each year.
