Brief overview

This collective mural pays tribute to the poetic work of singer-songwriter Richard Desjardins. This large-scale project was set up by the City of Rouyn-Noranda as part of the CULTURAT process. The City wished to leave an important legacy to the local and regional community by investing public spaces with a large dose of beauty, adding to the daily life of the thousands of people who use this underpass with more poetry, pride and a great sense of belonging to their territory and to its exceptional creators.

Annie Boulanger

Born in 1978 in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Annie has always drawn.

She studied Arts at the CEGEP followed by a foray into multidisciplinary visual creation at the UQAT, but curious about many other things and wanting to see the world, she chose to take a few enriching detours, became seriously interested in photography and cinema and traveled a bit before finally returning to what she is most excited about today: illustration.

Annie Hamel

Annie Hamel is a muralist artist, who has worked in this field for more than 15 years. Johannie Séguin

Holder of a Bachelors in visual arts and media from the University of Québec in Montreal, this artist lives and practices her art in Rouyn-Noranda. Her work has occasionally been presented in several solo and collective exhibitions. Furthermore she is the recipient of numerous awards and bursaries including the Relève des 19e Prix d’excellence en arts et culture de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue de la bourse d’excellence en peinture from the Fondation McAbbie. Her work is represented by the Rock Lamothe gallery situated in the heart of Old-Noranda.

Memory, passage of temp, fear of death, ephemerality of life and its ambiguity are at the heart of her artistic approach. These aspects guide her painting and drawing work. Performative action and installation are also sometimes integrated.

Brigitte Toutant

Brigitte Toutant was born in Rouyn-Noranda, where she returned to settle after obtaining her Bachelors in visual arts from Laval University in Quebec City. Since 2006, she dedicates herself full time to her art. For this talented artist, nothing is impossible. New daily information is a driving force of creation for her. In her painting practice, she combines the possibilities that don’t go together at first glance. Working also from photos, she integrates collages, paint, and other plastic interventions, seeking both shock and fluidity. For this, she brings together images and textures which, at first sight, don’t have anything to do together.

To date, her work has been presented during individual exhibitions, as well as a part of many regional group exhibitions. Several times an award holder of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, she has created many private commissions and, since 2008, she has several integration projects of architectural art.
