Augustin-Norbert Morin

An invested man

A pioneer of the colonization of the Laurentians

A lawyer, journalist, politician, judge, and committed patriot, Morin also spearheaded the movement to settle the Laurentians. We owe him a particular debt for helping establish the municipalities of Morin-Heights, Val-Morin and the region surrounding the town of Sainte-Adèle, its name evoking that of his wife Adèle Raymond.

Visionaries who shaped their time

Augustin-Norbert Morin is one of the first community builders showcased in the 'Great Developers of Pays‑d'en‑Haut' Heritage and Historical Tour, available on BaladoDiscovery.

The tour paints a picture of Piedmont, Sainte-Adèle, Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson and Estérel through the people who played a role in their development and have been immortalized in place names. These include, among others, businessmen Jean-Baptiste Rolland and Édouard Masson, who respectively lent their names to a sector of the city of Sainte-Adèle and to the municipality of Sainte-Marguerite-du-Lac-Masson.

“To develop our country, we need industry, we need railroads.” “Whoever wills the end must also will the means.” “The entire province supports development in the North, since the prosperity of one of its parts means prosperity for all.”
- Curé Labelle
