La Sapinière hotel

A jewel in the Laurentians

A leader in the Quebec and Laurentian hotel industry

World renowned with its rich historical and architectural heritage, it was the pride of the village of Val-David for 77 years before it closed permanently in 2013. During those years, the hotel was seen as a true jewel of Laurentian tourism.

It was also famous for its great chefs. For many years, it had one of Canada’s biggest wine cellars and attracted a loyal clientele. The iconic venue also spearheaded the creation of the first hotel and hospitality school in Quebec.

A culture and arts town

The hotel is one of the places that have marked the history of Val-David, just like La Butte à Mathieu and Village du Père Noël, presented in the “Val-David Heritage and Public Art Tour.” While on this excursion, you can admire the 16 public artworks set up throughout the village core. They are a testament to Val-David’s artistic wealth.

Open-air artworks, anecdotes, and fun facts

Which early settlers helped create the village of Bélisle’s Mill, renamed Municipalité du village de Val-David in 1944? Where does the cultural and artistic aspect that characterizes this municipality today come from? Why does it attract both artists and artisans as well as outdoor enthusiasts? Find the answers to these questions by taking the ”Val-David Heritage and Public Art Tour.” Brochures are available online or at the Val-David tourism office.
