Théâtre Le Patriote

Who would have thought that a barn built in 1920 would one day be a hub of tourist and cultural activity? The hundred-year-old building, which was significantly expanded in the 1980s, is an imposing performance hall with a reputation that extends far beyond the Laurentian borders. 

Gilles Vigneault was the first artist to take the stage in 1967, when the venue was called Théâtre de la Sablière. Other famous Quebec singers have followed in his footsteps, notably Félix Leclerc, Ginette Reno, Beau Dommage, Diane Dufresne, and Robert Charlebois, a proud godfather of Le Patriote.

The legendary hall, adored by artists, also welcomed singers from Europe, such as Nana Mouskouri and Gilbert Bécaud. 

In the 1980s, theatre made its debut, and the hall became THE hot spot for summer theatre, followed by musical theatre, and comedy shows in the late 1990s. Several comedians such as Guy Nantel, Lise Dion, and Peter McLeod have followed in the footsteps of Yvon Deschamps and Clémence Desrochers and their landmark performances.

Since 2014, a second hall located in the foyer of the theatre has hosted cabaret-style shows. 

One hundred years after the construction of the lavish barn belonging to the rich businessman Lorne McGibbon, the building is dressed to the nines with significant renovations to both its halls.
