The Quebec Bank building opened its doors in Thetford Mines in 1899. It was a branch of the bank of the same name, founded in 1818 in the Quebec region. This bank opened in Thetford Mines to take advantage of the rapid development of the mining industry in the area.
However, the Quebec Bank's expansion efforts were hindered by a delayed expansion compared to other banks. Competition posed a new challenge in attracting savers. The economic slowdown experienced by the region during World War I exacerbated the financial difficulties of this bank.
