Alexina-Léger House

1890, chemin du Village

House with a pitched roof

Roméo Aubin, school board trustee, lived in this house for 22 years.

It was also the former home of Alexina Lamoureux, widow of Stanley Léger. Upon her arrival to the village, she worked as a domestic servant at the Marceau House. An eccentric cat lady, she was nicknamed “Cat Mother” because she owned several cats. The story goes that she raised cats to eat, telling everyone that it wasn’t that different from eating pork. William Millette, alias Willie, was a trapper. In the spring, he provided Alexina with skinned muskrats that she prepared for supper. Her interesting ways intrigued the villagers and scared the children.
