Arvida, City of Aluminum

Discover the historical, architectural, urban and industrial heritage of Arvida with this tour. Nicknamed the '' Washington of the North '', Arvida is exemplary among twentieth-century company towns. It is the product of a long urban planning tradition, as it represents the achievement of decades of architectural, social, economic and technological research on working-class housing and planned communities.

Made possible by its creators' utopian ambition, this industrial town was propelled to the top of the global aluminum industry during the Second World War. You can now discover the specificities of the Arvida area through these 25 points of interest, which were selected and described by the Arvida Heritage Centre.
