From its beginning, the village of L'Orignal played an important role in maritime transport, and later benefited from its long wharf and its proximity to Caledonia Springs. Its name is derived from a point called Pointe-à-L'Orignac in 1681, when early voyagers saw moose crossing the river. The 17 historic buildings of L'Orignal invites you to travel in time!
Many of the stately buildings standing today were built during the first half of the 1800s.
