Presented byParoisse Notre‑Dame‑de‑la‑Nouvelle‑France
Hello and welcome to Château-Richer, the first organized Parish in New France. By downloading this audio-visual tour, you will have the pleasure of discovering the history and heritage of the Church of Château-Richer. We will also use the magnificent context in which we find ourselves to examine some traditions, rites and customs that have marked the history of Catholicism in order to better understand the influence of this religion on the objects that surround us but also on the impact that it has had on the inhabitants of Château-Richer over the years.
daily from 08h00 to 17h00
This tour is divided into five distinct parts that you can select individually on your device once the tour has been downloaded. For each one, you will also find posters that will give you direct access to these segments by means of QR codes without you having to download the application.
The duration of the visit is approximately fifty minutes. The visitor has free choice to walk in any direction because the physical elements that will be discussed are, for the most part, visible from everywhere. Also, during the narration, your attention will be directed by grandpa repeatedly to the screen of your phone or tablet. This will allow you to view photos that will enrich your understanding of the topics discussed.
It is inevitable, when building such a project to end up with additional texts. We opted to create a second segment entitled "And the rest, Amen" of a duration of 22 minutes in which you will find grandpa and the children once again who will tell you other little anecdotes.
Please note that narrative texts are included to allow the hearing impaired and deaf to take part in this tour.
We wish you a pleasant time with grandpa, Delphine and Guillaume.
The parish of “Notre-Dame-de-la-Nouvelle-France” made this project possible.

Thank you to the Parish as this project would not have been possible without the decision to allow the doors to open and thus make the church accessible to the public. Thanks to Mrs. Lise Buteau who allowed us to use the texts of her book entitled "Château-Richer, Terre de nos ancêtres en Nouvelle-France". Thanks are also due to Mrs Sophie Leggett for the revision of the texts. We cannot forget to thank Father Fortin for his support in ensuring that the theological information that is provided is correct. Finally, thank you to Marielle Milot and Rowan Bernier for lending their voices and narrating the texts of Delphine and Guillaume.
